The August average retail price for 7W LED light bulbs (equivalent to 40W incandescent bulbs) in the China market decreased by 16.0% on month to CNY30.5 (US$4.9), while the price for 9W models (equivalent to 60W incandescent bulbs) also fell by 11.6% to CNY45.0, according to Digitimes Research.
Average retail prices for 40W- and 60W-equivalent LED light bulbs in the Japan market in August stood at JPY1,698 (US$16) and JPY2,745 respectively, with the former slipping by 0.2% on month and the latter by 2.2%, Digitimes Research indicated.
August average retail prices for 40W- and 60W-equivalent LED light bulbs in other markets were: KRW12,462 (US$12.5, flat on month) and KRW14,645 (flat) in South Korea; US$20.3 (up 1.5%) and US$20.6 (up 3.0%) in the US; EUR12.4 (US$16.4, down 3.9%) and EUR11.6 (down 1.7%) in Europe.
LG Electronics 40W-equivalent and Samsung Electronics 60W-equivalent LED light bulbs available in the Europe market had the highest average lumen-price ratios of 79.8lm/US$ and 124.8lm/US$ respectively in August. In terms of luminous efficiency, Toshiba 40W- and 60W-equivalent models for sale in the Japan market had the highest average levels of 74.6lm/W and 100.5lm/W respectively.
