LED Providers Are Expected to See Fourth-Quarter 2014 Consolidated Revenues Decrease 10%

Due to weak demand for LED backlighting and lighting, Taiwan-based LED packaging service providers are expected to see fourth-quarter 2014 consolidated revenues decrease 10% sequentially on average, but will see significant sequential growth in first-quarter 2015, according to industry sources.

Due to weak demand, prices for LED lighting have dropped by 5-16% in the fourth quarter and those for LED backlighting by 4-13%, the sources said. However, demand for LED lighting will grow fast over the next few years, with the proportion of all lighting products for LED lighting products to rise from 29% in 2014 to over 30% in 2015 and 46% in 2016, the sources indicated.
