Beijing Foton Daimler JV Has Rolled out Its First Auman-Brand Truck in Beijing

The Beijing Foton Daimler Automotive (BFDA), a joint venture between German automaker Daimler and its Chinese partner Beiqi Foton Motor, has rolled out its first Auman-brand truck at the Huairou plant in Beijing, China.

Daimler Northeast Asia chairman and CEO of Ulrich Walker said," The joint production of our first Auman truck under BFDA is the result of thorough planning and groundwork that was done by Daimler and Foton in an intensive and co-operative way."

Foton Motor president and CEO Wang Jinyu said," The joint venture products will have more competitive advantages through the combination of Foton's market know-how and Daimler's technical expertise."

BFDA president Wu Yuejun said," BFDA enables us to build on the synergies between Foton and Daimler in marketing and technology, which combined with new production facilities will greatly strengthen the position of the Auman brand in the Chinese truck market."

The JV also plans to build another Auman truck facility and also establish the production of the OM 457 engine at the JV's headquarters.

The OM 457, which was equipped in the Mercedes-Benz commercial cars in Europe and Latin America, will now be introduced according to the coming Chinese emissions standard China IV.
