Multi Packaging Solutions (MPS) has deployed Heidelberger Druckmaschinen’s new 18-unit Speedmaster XL 106 press at its Scottish facility.
It is the first such installation of Speedmaster XL 106 in the world in terms of the configuration in its production.
MPS had installed it at its East Kilbride location to meet the high level of customer demand from designers and brand owners for several finishing options and premium quality.
Heidelberger claims that the Speedmaster XL 106 is the most versatile machine it has manufactured for packaging printing. The new press has successfully cleared its final acceptance tests.
MPS European Branded Consumer EVP Tim Whitfield said: “With the new 18-unit machine which, by the way, is positioned right next to the 17-unit machine, we have once again made a significant investment within our global activities.
“With the perfectly equipped Speedmaster XL 106, we can implement even more processes in-line, with 100% quality assurance, and thus ensure that we meet the requirements of some of the most well-known brands in the world. This helps us to optimize and grow our business.”
The Speedmaster XL 106 features eleven printing, four drying units and three coating. It also comprises the FoilStar in-line cold foiling system.
It comes with color measurement systems, the new Prinect Inspection Control 2 and Image Control 3 quality to enable zero defect production and produce top color quality.
MPS had overseen a field test for more than a year with Image Control 3 on its 17-unit Speedmaster XL 106 and had liked the new options, stated Heidelberger Druckmaschinen.
