GS1 Australia and ApicsAU Get Together for Supply Chain Best Practices

GS1 Australia and apicsAU have announced a collaboration to share expertise, foster research, promote best practices and professional membership to the Australian supply chain community.

apicsAU is a non-profit, membership community providing leadership and innovation, education and training and professional development for the Australian supply chain, procurement and logistics industry.

GS1 Australia is the leading provider of standards and solutions for over 20 industry sectors. They are at the forefront of eCommerce and supply chain management initiatives, and are committed to helping Australian businesses adopt the world’s best practice supply chain management techniques, improve business efficiencies, lower costs and streamline their processes.

“This agreement provides GS1 Australia and apicsAU members the opportunity to better improve their supply chain methodologies. While GS1 provides supply chain expertise and knowledge, apicsAU provides facilitation of supply chain education. We both play a vital role within the industry meeting today’s and future needs for the development of supply chain professionals,” said GS1 Australia’s CIO and head of GS1 Institute, Steven Pereira.

According to Dr Pieter Nagel, CEO, apicsAU, the collaboration with GS1 Australia adds value to its members by closely actively working with leaders at the forefront of innovation.

“Standards have never been more important than it in today’s changing supply chain environment. According to Gartner, as enterprises ramp up supply chain collaboration initiatives, standards will lower the cost of collaboration and enable trust among trading partners. This collaboration allows for our members to have unique access to latest thinking and innovation in standards and solutions.”

A steering committee is currently reviewing new initiatives under the collaboration including sharing and building research reports, whitepapers and content; keynote addresses on common topics; educational content; and certification endorsements.
