On the 30th of March, 2016, at their Annual General Meeting, members of the Australian Peak Shippers Association (APSA) agreed unanimously to merge with Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA), Australia’s leading body for border-related logistics and trade issues.
The Australian Peak Shippers Association (APSA) brought together some of Australia’s largest containerised exporters including Murray-Goulburn, Visy, Sunrice, Australian Paper, Enirgi and Cargill.
APSA served an important role in protecting Australia’s export competitiveness as the designated peak shipper body granted status by the Federal Minister for Infrastructure and Transport under Part X of the Consumer & Competition Act.
Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA) is one of Australia’s fastest growing advocacy bodies, now representing 245 international trade entities and approximately 70% of Australia’s inbound containerised trade.
“ FTA’s vision is to establish a global benchmark of efficiency in Australian border-related security, compliance and logistics activities,” said Paul Zalai, executive director and founder of FTA. “This development will deliver significant value to FTA’s existing members as well as providing APSA members with expanded member services.”
As a combined entity, Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA) and the Australian Peak Shippers Association (APSA) will represent a powerful voice in negotiating with government agencies, conferences and consortia.
The merger will also deliver administrative efficiencies for both organisations.
