Vanderlande’s specialities are baggage handling systems for airports, and sorting systems for parcel and postal services. The company is also a leading supplier of warehouse automation solutions.

Vanderlande’s baggage handling systems move 3.2 billion pieces of luggage around the world per year, or about 8.8 million per day. Its systems are active in 600 airports, including 17 of the world’s top 25. More than 20 million parcels (300 packages per second) are sorted by its systems every day. These have been installed for a variety of customers including the four largest parcel and postal companies in the world. In addition, 12 of Europe’s top 20 e-commerce companies and many distribution firms have confidence in Vanderlande’s efficient and reliable solutions.

Established in 1949, Vanderlande has more than 3,300 employees, and with a consistently increasing turnover of more than one billion euros, it has established a global reputation over the past six decades for value-added automated material handling solutions.

To facilitate the current growth of Vanderlande in Australia, there was a need for a new office. Vanderlande grew rapidly in Australia from only 1 person three years ago to 35 employees today on the local payroll, which excludes some Dutch Expats working in Australia.

Vanderlande Australia is also ramping up its team for a residential support contract it recently concluded in Sydney. (A residential support contract is where a Vanderlande employee is placed full-time on the customer’s premises.) Five team members have started already, and eight more will be contracted the coming weeks. On top of that, Vanderlande also agreed upon a residential support contract for a customer in Melbourne where another nine new VI employ’s in will start shortly.

Vanderlande’s area director Roald de Groot said it was Vanderlande’s aim to be able to handle all key business functionalities (sales, service & project execution) locally. “Which is something Vanderlande is able to do at this moment in time.”
