Alpla Installs Two New Sidel Matrix Blowers to Optimize Pet-Blowing Capacities in Mexico

Austria-based plastic packaging manufacturer Alpla has installed two new Sidel SBO 24 Matrix blowers to optimize its PET-blowing capacities in Mexico.

The move is part of the company's plan to improve after-sales service, energy consumption and maintenance as well as investment cost, while it has also tested different solutions available.

The company field-tested first blow-molder to produce bottles for Coca-Cola Femsa in February 2012 and also installed second SBO 24 Matrix blow-molder at Coca-Cola Femsa's Toluca plant.

Alpla technical and purchasing director Martin Stark said the company wanted an optimal solution offering reduced energy consumption.

"These are the two main reasons we chose the new generation of Sidel Matrix blowers - along with the fact that Sidel performs better on-site service compared to other suppliers," Stark added.

"After tailoring the modular Sidel Matrix blowers for our specific needs, the performance reached the level we were targeting, with an efficiency of up to 98% and an output matching that of the filling line."

Alpla operated the machines at 2,200 bottles per hour per mold for some months and are currently using the machines to address their needs.
