Over 1,000 machine-tool manufacturers from all over the world have signed up for a total of 8,700 booths with organizers of the Taipei International Machine Tool Show 2013(TIMOS 2013),but only 960 exhibitors with 5,300 booths are allowed.
The trade fair, which will be staged on March-10,is reportedly the world's No.2 event for machine tools.Significant foreign exhibitors include Okuma,Mazak,DMG,Yasda,JTEKT,Toyoda,Sodick,Mitsubishi,Trumpf,Kuka,Fanuc,Siemens,Heidenhain and Bosch.Prominent Taiwanese exhibitors include Hartford,Victor Taichung,YCM,Tongtai,QUASER,AWEA,Chevalier,CHMER,Seyi,Chen Fong,HIWIN and Keyarrow.
This biennial fair is co-organized by Taiwan External Trade Development Council(TAITRA)and Taiwan Association of Machinery Industry(TAMI).According to Reyming Tu,deputy executive director of TAITRA's exhibition department, around 5,500 buyers will attend the show.
Alan Lu,chairman of TAMI's machine tool committee, pointed out that in the Jan.-Oct.period of this year Taiwan's machine-tool industry exported US$3.5 billion of products,a 9.2%increase from the same period of last year.In 2011,the industry generated total revenue of US$5.04 billion, with exports constituting US$4 billion,an increase of 35.1%over a year ago.
Mainland China remains Taiwan's foremost export destination for machine tools, absorbing US$1.2 billion worth of the machines from Taiwan in the first 10 months this year,an increase of 2.8%over the same period of last year.
Lu estimated the 2013 show would create around US$2 billion of business opportunities, nearly on par with the number achieved in the 2011 show,as a result of lingering weak demands in developed economies.
