Energy firm E.On will raise prices for dual fuel customers by 8.7 per cent on January 18th,the company has confirmed.
People might want to consider getting more energy efficient ceiling spotlights in their homes in order to try and save a bit more money.
This announcement marks the last of the major energy providers to have confirmed that they will be charging their customers more in the coming weeks.
Indeed, all of the six main suppliers have recently announced increases of between six and 10.8 per cent.
Price charges may differ depending on where it is that you live in the country.
E.On had pledged that it wouldn't alter its price plan before the end of 2012,which prevented them from making any sort of announcement before the start of December.
Those that have just electricity supplied by E.On will see a price rise of 7.7 per cent,so LED bathroom spotlights could be the way to beat off the rise in prices.
Chief executive of E.On Tony Cocker said the firm has held back from increasing its prices for as long as it possibly could.
He added that the company had also worked hard to try and cut costs so that could be passed on to its customers.
Head of energy at Confused.com Kate Rose said while this price rise is now unexpected,it is not the news that consumers want to be hearing as we approach the festive period.
"Many households will already be worrying about their finances in the run-up to Christmas, and with the recent cold weather causing people to turn up their heating, they will now be increasingly concerned about their bills in the New Year,"she commented.
"We suggest customers look at opting for a fixed price or capped tariff which can offer price security against future price rises."
