TSMC 20nm Was First to Use by Altera

Altera has signed a'huge'contract for TSMC's 20nm process,according to the Taiwan Economic News.

Altera will be the first company to use the process which is scheduled for pilot production early next year and volume production in H2 2013.

Altera's 20nm FPGAs have 40Gbps transceivers,5TFLOPS DSP performance,and optical interfaces.

At the 28nm generation,Altera's great rival Xilinx sneaked an edge in getting to the node first.

As well as for fab,Altera's contract is also for TSMC's CoWoS(chip-on-wafer-on-substrate)2.5D packaging technology.
