In July this year, the average prices of residential housing in 100 major cities in China rose by 0.87 percent compared to June, rising to RMB 10,347 per square meter, as announced on August 1 by the China Index Academy, a Beijing-based real estate research institute.
This is the 14th successive month-on-month rise in Chinese residential housing prices since June 2012 when the downtrend in residential real estate prices came to a halt. The month-on-month increase rate of prices in January this year was 0.10 percentage points higher than the month-on-month price growth recorded in July. Of the 100 cities surveyed in July, 61 cities saw increases in residential housing prices, while 39 cities witnessed declines, all on month-on-month basis.
