Lexus International, the luxury vehicle division of Japanese carmaker Toyota, has unveiled its new concept vehicle, LF-NX compact crossover, at the Frankfurt Motor Show in Germany.
The LF-NX concept is targeting the growing segment of smaller, more urban-centric compact premium crossovers. It measures 182.7 inches long with a 106.3-inch wheelbase, and is similar to the popular RX sport utility vehicle (SUV) that pioneered the premium crossover segment in 1998, the company said.
Lexus International executive vice president Mark Templin said that the company intends to take advantage of the growing compact crossover SUV segment and expand its SUV line-up in the future.
"The new LF -NX concept explores the potential for a compact crossover within the Lexus model range," Templin added.
"This concept is youthful, confident and innovative. It features a new bold look that gives an insight into the future evolution of the Lexus L-finesse design language."
The LF-NX concept is equipped with a full hybrid powertrain, which includes a 2.5l four-cylinder Atkinson cycle gas engine with a powerful electric motor. It features three diamond-shaped LED headlamps and the independent daytime running lights (DRL).
The interior of the LF-NX cabin features a lower operation zone dashboard format, which includes touch-sensitive, electrostatic switches on door trim and the new Lexus remote touch interface (RTI). The upper display zone of the car features a driver's instrument meter design.
