Detroit Diesel Corp. announced that it is making its Detroit Connect telematics program available to mixed fleets, beginning early next year.
Customers will now be able to use Detroit Connect Visibility fleet software and the on-board tablet with any make or model of truck. The service was initially announced for only Freightliner and Western Star trucks.
"By expanding the availability of the On-Board Tablet and Visibility fleet software to mixed fleets, we are arming all fleet managers with powerful tools that streamline communications, benefit fuel efficiency and enhance driver productivity," said Joe Saccio, manager, sales and marketing, Detroit Connect for Daimler Trucks North America. "With Detroit Connect, DTNA is leading the charge to develop technologies that benefit the industry."
Visibility fleet software monitors and delivers real-time data on the entire fleet to track the status of one or all trucks. The On-Board Tablet is loaded up with trucking-specific apps that provide hours-of-service monitoring, two-way messaging, navigation and trip inspections.
