German carmaker Audi is expected to launch its competitively priced A3 sedan in India during the second week of July 2014.
The move will allow the company to launch one of its cheapest luxury compact sedan segment, which was absent from the Indian markets.
The launch is likely to stimulate launch of other such cars in domestic market from different auto makers.
Audi is expected to offer the vehicle in both the petrol and diesel variants similar to other markets and also maintain a lower price.
The sedan's petrol variant is expected to be powered by the low displacement 1.4L TSFI engine mated to a six-speed manual and a seven-speed S-Tronic automatic transmission.
According to reports, the Audi A3 saloon is more economical in the diesel variant.
Audi had launched the A3 sedan in three variants including two petrol and one diesel engine options.
The petrol variants include a 1.4L TSFI gasoline motor with maximum output of 140hp and a 1.8L TSFI motor delivering output of 180Bhp.
The diesel variant is equipped with 2L TDI powertrain offering 150hp of output and 320Nm of peak torque.
