Cree has introduced a second generation of its XP-G lighting LED,claiming up to 20%more lm/W and 2.5x lm/dollar compared with the original.
Called XP-G2,the device has the same 3.45x3.45mm footprint as the XP-G and"is compatible optically with the original, providing drop-in-ready performance enhancements",said the firm.
Characterised and binned at 85°C,efficacy is up to 151 lm/W(350mA,85°C)or 165 lm/W(350mA 25°C)in 6,000K cool white.
In 3,000K warm white,up to 133 lm/W(350mA,85°C)or 145 lm/W(25°C)is available.
Maximums are:1.5A,4.9W and 488 lm(4.7W,85°C).
Typical forward drop is 2.8V(350mA)and viewing angle is 115°.
"Luminaire makers seeking Energy Star qualification will have access to specification and performance data, including LM-80 reports,"said Cree."XP-G2 LEDs are a successor product to the original XP-G LED for LM-80 data, accelerating qualification of luminaries using 3,000 hours of LM-80 data, instead of the normal 6,000 hours. The XP-G2 LED is also UL-recognized and features a level 4 rating."
