Durango Mountain Resort recently held a grand opening for Purgatory Cycle Works, a full-service retail, service and rental shop on the resort grounds. The shop, which is owned and managed by Durango Mountain Resort, has three employees, including a full-time mechanic.
“Purgatory Cycle Works provides enhanced repair services onsite,” said Alex Lexas, director of rental operations for Purgatory Cycle Works.“Also new to the resort are rentals from Rocky Mountain, including the Element 950 and the Slayer 30 full-suspension bikes.”
In addition to mountain bikes, Purgatory Cycle Works rents 20-inch and 24-inch kids’ and recreational bikes. Diggler Mountain Scooters are also available for use on the mountain. Riders who rent bikes from Purgatory Cycle Works receive a discount on their lift ticket.

Guests can also put their skills to test on the spectator-friendly pump track and short track course at the base of the chairlift.
Clothing, accessories, components, nutrition and energy drinks are also available for purchase at Purgatory Cycle Works, and shop staff can provide information about trail conditions.
The shop is open daily through Aug. 18, and on weekends for the remainder of the summer season, which runs until Sept. 29.
