Taiwanese China Steel Corporation (CSC) faces soft demand for electric furnace (EF) Al-killed wire rod that results in reducing orders in November after a sharp growth on local orders in the past five months. The market price of CSC’s EF Al-killed wire rod is around US$710/ton for November. However, the company obtains the order quantities for November has yet met around 30,000 tons, slightly decreasing from October. Market insiders also indicate the demand is still weak due to sluggish export from its downstream screw producers. On the other hand, the import price of steel wire rod from China also keeps dropping to affect the Taiwanese steel market. It is reported that the export price of wire rod 10B21 from China is around US$600/ton C&F, stifling the growth of CSC’s sales performance in next few months.
