In March this year, Spanish crude steel output amounted to 1.3 million mt, up 4.1 percent year on year and increasing by 5.6 percent compared to February, according to the Spanish steelmakers association Unesid. Meanwhile, in the first quarter this year, Spain's crude steel output increased by 8.3 percent year on year to 3.6 million mt.
On the other hand, in the January-February period of this year, Spanish steel product imports increased by 11.4 percent to 1.44 million mt, valued at €1.01 billion, up 9.2 percent, both on year-on-year basis. Meanwhile, in the given period Spanish steel product exports totaled 1.47 million mt, up 3.3 percent, and the value of these exports was €1.14 billion, down 5.9 percent, both on year-on-year basis.
Meanwhile, in the first two months of the current year, apparent steel use in Spain increased by 8.1 percent year on year to 964,000 mt, including 310,000 mt of long products and 609,000 mt of flat products.
