HTC Corp Is Reportedly to Launch Its Google Nexus Android Phone in Q4

Taipei, Oct. 23, 2012 (CENS)--Not to lag behind its competitors, HTC Corp., a Taiwanese smartphone vendor, is reportedly to launch its Google Nexus Android phone in the fourth quarter of this year as the fourth smartphone brand joining the competition after LG, Samsung, and Sony, according to industry sources.

Google is reported by foreign news agencies to unveil multiple new models around the end of October, with hardware partners including LG, Samsung and Sony, all of which will also bring their newest Google Nexus Android phones to the market starting in the fourth quarter.

Among these hardware partners, LG will pioneer to launch the first Nexus phone this year, and, later on, Samsung and Sony will release their model named Galaxy Premier and Nexus X, respectively, as well.

As Google has ambitiously tried to boost Nexus phones’ global market shares since early this year to induce the said smartphone brands to vie for the business pie, the sources noted, it makes sense that HTC, which once worked out world’s first Nexus phone, Nexus One, in cooperation with Google in 2010, will also launch its Nexus Android phones to join the market, for the Taiwanese brand is eagerly looking for a new growth drive to reverse its current downturn.

No matter whether Nexus phones can gain a ground in the increasingly competitive market for smartphones, HTC, if really joining Google’s Nexus league, will have to face a new round of competition against Samsung, LG and Sony in the segment in the short term.
