CBS Aired an Investigative Report About Improper Windshield Installations Detailing Issue

CBS 2 in New York has aired an investigative report about improper windshield installations detailing issues consumers need to watch out for when getting a windshield replaced.

The story focuses on the tragic death of Jeanne Fransway resulting from a car accident after she was ejected through the opening left by an improperly installed windshield that had popped out of the car on impact.

Her brother, Jon, has said in multiple reports that his sister was found lying on top of the windshield after the accident. Fransway conducted his own research and discovered the faulty installation.

Debra Levy, volunteer president of the Auto Glass Safety Council, was also interviewed as part of the report.

"CBS New York was kind enough to do a 20-minute interview, but of course a 20-minute interview gets pared down for television," says Levy.

The report, which was originally scheduled to air a few weeks ago, was delayed because of coverage for Hurricane Sandy.

This story is just one of the latest consumer reports on faulty windshield installations featured in the news. CBS Sacramento ran an investigative report centering on improper windshield installations in May. CBS Minnesota also ran a national consumer report in May.
