Thorn Lighting has announced its year-end results for 2011-12.The company says it has grown by ten per cent against both budget and previous year figures.
Thorn has also increased its share of LED sales,outdoor lighting and its latest turn-key service Thorn Energy Solutions.
Paul Coggins,managing director at Thorn,said:"2011/12 has seen us outgrow a declining market.We have increased UK production and increased staff numbers,which has bucked the main trends in the lighting industry.
"Our growth has been due to continued segment and customer focus.We have differentiated ourselves on service,and whilst we're still not perfect,we're continuing to build a strong customer service ethos within the business."
As well as increasing staff numbers,Thorn has created an initiative to employ,support and train apprentices to develop talent within the company.
"Our people are incredibly important to us–at Thorn we all strive to be Lighting People.That's why this year we have also made a massive investment in a new training programme at the Thorn Academy of Light,"said Coggins.
"It will focus on technical competence as well as customer service programmes including new initiatives such as energy solutions.Our goal is to be the easiest lighting company to do business with."
