Taipei,Oct.15,2012--Taiwan's cellphone component makers struggled in the traditional peak season as Merry Electronics Co.Ltd.'s revenues in September only reached NT$585 million(US$19.5 million),far lower than market prediction of NT$700 million(US$23.33 million).Ichia Technologies Inc.'s revenues in September edged up 1%month on month(MoM)to NT$789 million(US$26.3 million);while Silitech Technology Co.registered NT$800 million(US$26.67 million),the same as in August.
Merry claimed previously that non-cellphone shipments including headphones and speakers remained growing,challenging NT$700 million(US$23.33 million)in September revenues,but only posted NT$585 million(US$19.5 million)in revenues,down 4.27%MoM.
Merry also claimed,with mounting shipments of speakers and pocket headphones,revenues will peak in the fourth quarter,but actually revenue may not grow in the fourth quarter.
Silitech saw consolidated revenues in August reach NT$800 million(US$26.67 million),with NT$2.27 billion(US$75.67 million)in third quarter revenue,up 5%quarter on quarter(QoQ).
Institutional investors estimate the firm's shipments of magnesium alloy components in the fourth quarter will rise 60%QoQ,contributing 30%to total revenues,with revenue growth in the fourth quarter to depend on orders for cellphone keypads.
Ichia saw revenues in September reach NT$789 million(US$26.3 million),up 1%MoM,thanks to recovering shipments of cellphone keypads.A representative of Ichia said that FPC(Flexible Printed Circuit)shipments in September decreased 2%MoM,with revenues in September rising modestly due to returning orders for cellphone keypads from North American customers.
Ichia's revenues in the third quarter grew 19.4%QoQ to NT$2.273 billion(US$75.77 million).With steady performance of FPC,along with advanced deliveries of RIM Blackberry QWERTY keypads in November and December,the firm is expected to stabilize or increase slightly revenues in the fourth quarter compared to the third.
