In April this year, French crude steel production amounted to 1.245 million mt, down by 12.2 percent year on year, according to the latest data released by the French Steel Federation (FFA).
In April, crude steel production in France using electric arc furnaces (EAFs) fell 11.5 percent year on year to 500,800 mt, while crude steel production using blast furnace (BF) technology totaled 744,000 mt, falling by 12.8 percent year on year.
In the January-April period this year, French crude steel output decreased by 6.1 percent year on year to 5,223,300 mt. In the given period, EAF output fell 12.8 percent to 1.954 million mt, while BF output increased by 1.7 percent to 3.268 million mt, both year on year.
The FFA also noted that, compared to the respective periods in 2008, domestic crude steel production in April this year was down 25.1 percent, while crude steel output in January-April of the current year indicated a decline of 20 percent.
