US car maker General Motors (GM) will voluntarily recall 27,051 Spark mini cars in South Korea following a defective transmission mount.
According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and transport, Korea, the gearbox mount could destablize and cause a drop in the transmission power of the car.
The Ministry also mentioned that the affected cars were produced between 8 June and 12 December 2013.
However, a spokesperson of GM said that they have not received any reports of injuries or crashes sparked by this defect.
The company's move has come on the heels of the Korean government's decision to recall 4,848 Sparkminis in January. The Korea-made Spark mini is sold in Europe and in the US, but the cars in the US won't be affected by the recall.
GM Korea spokesperson was quoted by Reuters as saying that the company is considering whether to take "proper action" in other markets such as Europe.
GM has recalled 29 million cars till now this year, out of which more than half of them were for the potentially defective ignition switch responsible for 16 deaths and 61 crashes.
