According to statistics released by the Specialty Steel Industry of North America (SSINA), the US's stainless steel consumption totaled 192,406 tons in September, rising by 21.1% year on year. Among them, the consumption of stainless steel rod surged by 74.3% to 6,784 tons; that of stainless steel plates rose by 55.8% to 32,034 tons; that of stainless steel strips and sheets increased by 17.3% to 130,332 tons. Meanwhile, the country's imports of stainless steel totaled 63,868 tons in September, jumping by 29% year on year. In September, the imports of stainless rods totaled 2,699 tons, growing by 96%; those of stainless steel plates were 14,050 tons, jumping by 90.5%; those of stainless steel sheets and strips were at 130,332 ton, increasing by 17.3%, all compared to the figures in the same period of a year ago.
