The Las Vegas Antique Jewelry & Watch Show at the Paris Convention Center It was one of the lesser known trade fairs during Las Vegas Jewellery Week but it is almost designed that way as these dealers and buyers prefer to be discreet when it comes to the valuables that are on display. It's a low-key event compared to many of the other trade fairs on the "Las Vegas Strip." Decorations are few and exhibitor booths are as simple as can be. But the true excitement and value of this event is in the cases and displays.

The piece is set with sapphires, rubies and diamonds. There's also white, blue and black enamel. Giuliano was a personal friend and private jeweller to Queen Victoria. Some of the items were quite remarkable. There was a collection of jewels, watches and other objects that once belonged to the Sultan of Brunei. Rare coloured diamonds and gems used for necklaces, rings and earrings. And of course, jewellery by all of the signature designers was in display cases, including Tiffany, Bulgari, Boucheron and Cartier and Van Cleef & Arpels. The vendors here are highly competitive and tight-lipped when it comes to business. But a couple of exhibitors who didn't want to be named said there was excitement at the show but it hasn't turned into a lot of actual sales. "At least not yet," one vendor said with optimistic view that great sales will soon be on the way.
