Lextar obtains LM-79,LM-80 accreditation Siu Han,Taipei;Adam Hwang,DIGITIMES[Thursday 6 September 2012]Lextar Electronics,a Taiwan-based LED epitaxial wafer and chip maker and provider of LED chip packaging services,on September 5 announced that its Photometric Laboratory has been accredited for LM-79 and LM-80 testing concerning LED lighting applications,making it the only provider in Taiwan and one of a few around the world that has accreditation for the two testing standards.
LM-80 is a lumen maintenance testing standard for LED packaging,with a LED package tested at different temperatures for 6,000 hours to determine the quality and lifespan of the package,Lextar indicated.Since LM-80 has become a common international indicator of quality and life for lighting-use LED packaging,the accreditation enables Lextar to help LED lamp makers to judge the quality of LED packaging and thereby shorten the time taken verify their lamps,Lextar said.
LM-79 is a testing standard for photometric and electrical measurements for LED lighting products,with results used as evidence to judge the credibility of LED lighting products and corresponding manufacturers,Lextar indicated.
With the LM-79 and LM-80 accreditation,Lextar can provide LED lighting testing services to reduce costs and testing times for LED lighting product makers,the company said.
