ALPI will be a part of the Zaha Hadid retrospective as the technical partner

Decorative wood veneer company ALPI is a technical partner in the collaboration with ARTE+PARTNERS for the first retrospective exhibition dedicated to late architect Zaha Hadid. The retrospective opened on May 26 coinciding with the Venice Architecture Biennale 2016 inauguration. The exhibition hosted by Fondazione Berengo at Palazzo Franchetti until November 27th, gives homage to the great architect who passed away this year, celebrating her career and showcasing the brilliance and dynamism of her architectural projects.

ALPI provided the woods to realize the Sleuk Rith Institute scale model: a still under construction project in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, which brings together a museum, a research centre, a graduate school, a document archives and a research library. The institute’s design is organized as five wooden structures with separate volumes at ground level, but interweave and link together as they ruse upwards, defining an intricate spatial composition of connecting volumes; generating a series of exterior and interior spaces that flow into each other to guide visitors through the different areas for contemplation, education, engagement and discussion. ALPI woods have been chosen for their extreme versatility and the capacity to ensure infinite design potentialities; the perfect material that can be adapted to the dynamic and fragmented forms of architect’s projects.

Once again the innovation technology and the accurate manufacturing culture intensify a living material like the wood which, thanks to ALPI’s commitment, evolves to support every project demands through the constant R&D activity, a fundamental base of the company’s philosophy since the beginning; common characteristics to the Zaha Hadid’s works which has always followed a continue experimentation and exploration of different architectonic techniques during her entire career.
