A growing North East electrical business has completed work on the most technically challenging project it has tackled in its 40 year history.
The 200,000 specialist lighting systems installed in the new Culture Centre at Newcastle's Royal Victoria Infirmary demonstrated new levels of expertise provided by McNally and Thompson.
The centre, which comprises café space, meeting rooms, a boardroom and staff gym is considered the jewel in the crown of a 300 million, eight-year construction project. It features specially designed and manufactured light fittings operated by sophisticated, intelligent dimming systems.
The Sunderland based electrical contractors also provided services for the two new clinical blocks, installing over 14 miles of cabling for the primary electrical services, security and fire alarm systems and communications network in the general office space, teaching rooms and lecture theatre.

McNally and Thompson supported Laing O'Rourke and Crown House on the double track project – a private finance initiative with Newcastle Hospitals PFI to create the clinical building and office block and a direct contract with the trust to produce the Culture Centre.

Experts in the installation of electrical and mechanical services at offices, retail outlets, hospitals, health centres, schools and sheltered accommodation, McNally and Thompson has seen exceptional growth in the last two years, during which new contracts have bolstered the order book to over 4 million.
The company is about to begin work which will provide a site-wide low voltage network, fire alarms, call systems, door entry, CCTV, data installations, general lighting and power to 175 apartments at a new retirement village in Fordfield Road, Sunderland.
