Rexam Beverage Cans South America (BCSA), a manufacturer of beverage cans, is all set to open its second production line at its plant located in Santiago, Chile.
The new line will enable the plant to operate with a production capacity of 1.9 billion cans annually, representing an increase of 72% in current production capacity, in the second half of 2014.
Rexam BCSA's new production line will manufacture cans of 12oz (350ml), 16oz (473ml) and 8.4oz (250ml) sizes.
The company's Chile plant will increase its supplies of specialty cans to South American markets including Peru and Bolivia.
Rexam sector director for South America Carlos Medeiros said, "This investment is crucial not only to consolidate Rexam's position in the region but also to ratify our commitment to support our customers' growth and to exceed consumers' expectations."
The investment is also said to consolidate the company's capacity to produce various can sizes at the same time.
