The Australian dollar neared 105 US cents after falling during weekend offshore trading.
At 6.23am AEST the Australian dollar was at 105.11 US cents, down from Friday's local close of 105.46 US cents.
During the weekend offshore session, the local currency moved between a low of 104.80 US cents and a high of 105.51 US cents.
In economics news today, the Australian Bureau of Statistics will release housing finance figures for February.
