CervéLo Announced a New Bike Model on Tuesday

Cervélo announced a new bike model on Tuesday, a time trial and triathlon bike that is more affordable than its top-of-the-line P5. The new P3 will retail for $5,400 built up with Shimano Dura-Ace 9000 parts. The company says the new model borrows technology from the P5 and works with standard components and a wide range of sizes.

"The P3 is designed for the dedicated age-grouper or pro ready to shatter their personal bests," said Phil White, chairman of Cervélo. "These are the athletes we see by the hundreds each season, at their local community tri, regional Olympic-distance or at even at Kona. The P3 belongs to these athletes and the goals they've set for 2013 – we're here to help them be even faster."

The P3 will be available in a 45cm frame size with 650c wheels, and a 48cm with 700c wheels, both new sizes for the company. It uses the P5 rail seatpost and a 1 1/8-inch steerer tube.

Cervélo says the new P3 is more aerodynamic and stiffer than its previous P3 model. It also has a wider range of available sizing and "future-proof cabling" - routing that is compatible with cable, electric and hydraulic lines.
