Waterloo, Ontario — BlackBerry instituted more management changes with the avowed intent to "strengthen the company's strategy, marketing and operations."
James Mackey was appointed corporate development and strategic planning executive VP, and Mark Wilson was named marketing senior VP.
Previously, Mackey was corporate development senior VP at Open Text and head of corporate development at SAP, where he developed and led the company's global merger and acquisitions group and was involved in completing more than 40 acquisitions.
Wilson comes from Avaya, where he was chief marketing officer and led a marketing transition to a customer-solutions orientation, BlackBerry said. He was also corporate and field marketing senior VP at Sybase and worked at AT&T and KPMG. At Sybase, he oversaw branding and advertising, lead generation and mobile product marketing operations.
Wilson "brings extensive experience building brand preference and driving integrated marketing for a number of well-known companies," BlackBerry said.
John Chen, BlackBerry's new executive chair and CEO, said he has worked extensively with both men in the past and that "we have developed close and trusted relationships with each other that will enable us to cohesively manage the changes required to reshape BlackBerry."
