Chi-jen Chen, chairman of Taiwan-based conductive paste maker Giga Solar, has indicated that the solar industry hit bottom in September and is likely to rebound in October. This rebound is obvious in the solar cell segment. Chen believes the market will continue rebounding in November and by first-quarter 2013, with decreasing inventory, the market will return to better conditions.
Chen added that solar firms saw September revenues hit bottom. Nevertheless, the firms should begin to feel the revival of the market in October as solar cell inventory decreases.
Market conditions in November is likely to be the same as October, said Chen, but due to the weather factor, December order visibility is unpredictable. The price of solar wafers continues to decrease due to dumping by China- and South Korea-based firms, said Chen, and this will make solar cell price more competitive and possibly stimulate end market demand.
