BGAPMEA Aims to Achieve US$ 12 Billion Target in Export of Garment Accessories by 2018

Bangladesh Garments Accessories and Packaging Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGAPMEA) aims to achieve US$ 12 billion target in export of garment accessories by the year 2018.

Mr. Safiullah Chowdhury, chief advisor of BGAPMEA, told fibre2fashion, “Currently, our export market is growing at the rate of eight to ten percent and we are planning to achieve the target of US$ 12 billion i.e., 90 percent growth in export market by 2018.”

“Our member industries have already taken several steps for reaching the target,” he adds.

The Chief Advisor says, “They are installing new machineries to increase the capacity and to improve the production of the apparel accessories.”

"We have asked the Government of Bangladesh to provide some incentives and to reduce the bank interest rates in order to sustain in the competitive market,” he continues.

Commenting about the export market, he says, “We are looking forward to export to countries like India, China, Japan and Russia.” 

BGAPMEA is the second largest export oriented trade organization of Bangladesh and its member industries manufacture clothing accessories and packaging to cater to the needs of the export oriented garment industries.
