US-based corrugated packaging company Pratt Industries has announced plans to construct a new $260m recycled paper mill in Valpariaso, Indiana.
Construction of the new 100% recycled paper mill is expected to start in March 2014 with completion slated for July 2015. It is expected to increase the company's overall containerboard capacity to about 1.5mt.
Pratt Industries global chairman Anthony Pratt said that the new facility will allow the company to offer better service for increasing customer base in the US.
"And Indiana is a perfect fit for us. We've been a part of the business community here for many years now and we know there is a skilled, reliable workforce available to us," Pratt added.
The new mill will be built in a 250,000ft2 space on a 50-acre site and will comprise wastewater pre-treatment facility and road improvements.
Upon reaching full capacity, the mill is expected to produce about 360,000t of recycled paper annually.
