Meanwhile, in the given year, the country's cold rolled sheet and strip shipments increased by 1.06 percent on year-on-year basis to 6.55 million metric tons, while 51 percent of shipments were made to the domestic market and the other 49 percent were made to the export markets.
In 2013, Japan's CR sheet and strip inventories decreased by 4.64 percent year on year to 7.81 million metric tons. 70 percent of inventories were held by steel manufacturers, while 30 percent were held by steel traders.
The average domestic price for CR sheet and strip in Japan in 2013 was JPY 78,333/mt ($775/mt), down JPY 3,593/mt ($35/mt) compared to the same period of 2012.
