Coal producers in Shanxi, China's biggest coal-producing province, incurred an overall loss of RMB 4.02 billion ($0.66 billion) in the January-February period of the current year, with half of the coal producers in the province recording losses for the period, as announced by Shanxi Province's Bureau of Statistics.
In the January-February period this year, the industrial added value of the coal industry in Shanxi Province amounted to RMB 44.42 billion ($7.28 billion), up nine percent year on year, with this growth rate up 2.8 percentage points compared to the year-on-year comparison in the same period of the previous year. Market analysts said continuing overcapacity will exert a negative impact on coal prices in the future.
