Final numbers have been tallied for the four-day Eurobike trade show, and according to organizers, the show once again surpassed previous attendance records.
Organizers counted 45,200 trade visitors from 111 countries, up from 43,700 visitors from 97 countries last year. In addition, 1,883 journalists from 45 countries covered the event. About 53 percent of the media in attendance came from abroad.
On Saturday, 20,400 consumers attended the fair to see the latest products.
Eurobike organizers said 1,280 exhibitors from 54 countries filled 14 exhibition halls. Visitors traveled from across the world, resulting in an international participation rate of 56 percent.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel's visit was the show's main highlight.
"For the international bike world and for Eurobike, the fact that Dr. Angela Merkel came to Friedrichshafen was a strong political signal," said Klaus Wellman, CEO of Messe Friedrichshafen.
