Davis Was Appointed BPF Director-General in October 1997

Davis was appointed BPF Director-General in October 1997.? Before that he was the chief executive of Incpen from October 1993 – September 1997.

He has previously held the following positions: Director of marketing; membership and international affairs at the Royal Institute of British Architects; head of home affairs in the Conservative Research Department; special adviser to Environment Secretary Kenneth Baker MP.

Prior to this he held marketing positions with: Dylon International, 3M and Metal Box.? He was leader of the Opposition on Lambeth Council 1982-84 and was awarded the OBE for public and political services in 1993.

Peter Davis is the chairman of the Alliance of Industry Associations (AIA); deputy chairman of the Enterprise Forum; member of EuPC's Steering Committee; member of the Materials KTN's Polymer Advisory Board; member of Defra's Chemicals Stakeholder Forum, member of BIS's Chemical Regulatory Forum; member of the Packaging Federation Council and Construction Product's Association Trades Council; and Sponsor, Plastics 2020 Challenge.

The BPF also announced that the finance and administration director Alan Davey also will retire next year.

BPF president Mike Boswell said "Peter and Alan have given sterling service to the BPF and industry.? Although a year away it is important we have a plan for finding their successors".

Boswell said that its Council had set up an appointments panel to find their successors
