Many Drivers Still Do Not Have a Good Understanding of CSA

ARLINGTON, Va. -- Many drivers still do not have a good understanding of CSA, but their concerns about its impact on their job security are decreasing.

That’s according to the latest research from the American Transportation Research Institute (ATRI). The organization’s New Safety Measurement System and Its Implications - 2013 Update, found that drivers quizzed on CSA scored 42.4% on knowledge tests given to about 7,800 drivers.

This, says ATRI, suggests that after three years of CSA enforcement, drivers still do not have a good understanding of all its implications.

The survey also found carrier-provided CSA training has increased steadily since 2011. Driver job security concerns due to CSA have decreased by nearly 10% over the past three years, ATRI reports.

Enforcement officers who were given knowledge tests of CSA scored an accuracy rate of just 66.5%.
