Prices of Farm Produce Continue to Pick up While Prices of Production Means Continue Falling

According to the monitoring of MOFCOM, the prices of farm produce in 36 large and medium-sized cities still picked up and the prices of production means in circulation continued falling last week (November 9–November 15).

Last week, the average price of 18 kinds of vegetable was up 4.7% compared with the previous week, led by the price growth of cucumber, bitter gourd and green pepper, increasing 22.2%, 13.5% and 9% respectively. The price of grain saw ups and downs, with flour up 0.3% and rice the same as the previous week. The price of edible oil dropped slightly, with peanut oil and soybean oil down 0.3% and 0.1% respectively, and rapeseed oil remained the same as the previous week. The prices of chicken and eggs fluctuated slightly, with eggs up0.5% and chicken down 0.1%. The prices of aquatic product decreased 0.7%, led by the price drop of chub, large hairtail and carp, down 2.1%, 1.5% and 1% respectively. The price of meat continued falling, with pork down 0.9%, beef and mutton down 0.4% and 1.3% respectively.

Last week, the price of nonferrous metal was down 2.6%, with copper, tin, nickel, zinc, aluminum and lead down 3.1%, 2.9%, 2.9%, 2.6%, 2.2% and 1.4% respectively. The price of steel decreased 0.8%, with galvanized sheet and common round steel down 1% and 0.9% respectively. The price of rubber dropped 0.5% compared with the previous week, with synthetic rubber and natural rubber down 0.7% and 0.3% respectively. The price of basic chemical raw material decreased 0.5%, with sulfuric acid and methyl alcohol down 0.7% and 0.6% respectively. The price of chemical fertilizer went down 0.2%, with urea down 0.3%, NPK, KCL and DAP remaining steady. The price of coal decreased 0.1%, while steam coal down 0.2%, coking coal up 0.4% and blind coal the same as the previous week.
