A super cyclone swept into Vanuatu on March 13-14, 2015, making severe damages to local buildings and people, and leading to power and communications blackout. At present, living materials such as tents, drinking water and food are in severe shortage and the situation is very bad. To express the Chinese government and its people’s sympathy and support to the Vanuatuan government and its people, the Chinese government decided to provide 30 million yuan emergency humanitarian aid including tents, food and generators to Vanuatu for saving and relocating people in disaster areas. Those reliefs will be sent by chartered planes as soon as possible to satisfy the urgent needs of local people.
The Chinese government will continue to offer a helping hand within its ability and make positive efforts to help people in disaster areas rebuild their homes in accordance with the needs of the Vanuatu side and the changes of the disaster.
