Homemade Recalls Pickle and Sauce Products as They Might Fail to Meet Safe Guidelines

Homemade is recalling pickle and sauce products as they might have failed to meet safe processing guidelines, according to the US Food and Drug Administration.

The recall has been initiated after a bottle of Homemade Bread and Butter Pickles was found to contain high pH level that would be enough to allow the growth of Clostridium botulinum, during a routine sampling by the Washington State Department of Agriculture.

Homemade owner Robert Eadie said: "the health of customers is a priority for my company, which is why I am working with the Washington State Department of Agriculture and a recognized process authority to take steps necessary to ensure the safety of my products."

The products associated with the recall include 16oz Bread and Butter Pickles, Icicle Pickles, Pickled Beets as well as 12oz Chili Sauce, Lite BBQ Sauce, Medium BBQ Sauce, Hot BBQ Sauce and Horseradish BBQ Sauce.

These products were sold in Chelan and Douglas counties in Washington State.

Consumption of the products containing the potent neurotoxin formed during growth of Clostridium botulinum may cause foodborne botulism, a severe type of food poisoning.

So far, no illnesses have been reported associated with the consumption of the recalled products.
