On September 24-26, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Countries Commodity Fair (SCO Fair) was held in Xi’an, Shaanxi. The State Councilor Wang Yong attended the opening ceremony and inspected some booths. Vice Minister of Commerce Fang Aiqing made the speech at the opening ceremony.
Fang said in his speech that the idea of SCO Fair was proposed by President Xi Jinping at the SCO Dushanbe Summit in 2014, and it’s also the commodity fair held since the SCO has been founded for 14 years. It creates favorable chances for the countries to carry out economic and trade communications.
Fang said that, the SCO countries are at different development stages with different resources endowment and industrial structures. There exists great potential for deepening regional economic cooperation due to the high complementarity.
About 200 enterprises and 400 exhibitors from 12 countries including China, Iran, India, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Russia, Belarus, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Afghanistan participated in the Fair.
