Experts Confident About China's Service Sector Growth

Experts believe that China's service industry will keep up high growth levels in the next few years.

Liu Yuanchun, a dean at Renmin University of China, predicts an 8-percent growth rate for the sector.

"There is no problem for China to keep a growth rate of 8 percent in its tertiary industry in the next few years. The percentage of the service industry may reach or even exceed 60 percent of the the country's economic aggregate at the end of the 13th five-year plan."

Experts also believe that the expansion of the service industry signals that China has entered the middle and late periods of industrialization.

Official data shows that China's economy grew 6.9 percent in the third quarter of this year, with the service industry accounting for over half of that growth.
