The Governments of India and Thailand Have Signed The DTAT

The governments of India and Thailand have signed the double taxation avoidance treaty (DTAT).

The treaty was among a number of important agreements signed by India’s external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj and Thai deputy prime minister and foreign minister Tanasak Patimapragorn in Bangkok today, according to an official statement.

The DTAT provides for the framework to avoid double taxation and prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes so as to promote bilateral economic cooperation.

Prior to the signing of the agreements, on the last day of her three-day visit, Swaraj co-chaired the 7th meeting of the India-Thailand Joint Commission for Bilateral Cooperation. Means and ways to expedite the negotiation on the bilateral free trade agreement (FTA), connectivity, in particular, the India-Myanmar-Thailand Trilateral Transport Linkage, and the support of the development of the Comprehensive Development in the Dawei Special Economic Zone and its related project areas in Myanmar were among the topics discussed by the both sides.
