Italy Can Help Vietnam by Training Its Workforce in The Apparel Industry

Italy can help Vietnam by training its workforce in the apparel industry to help improve the quality of its textile and clothing export, Nguyen Hoang Long, Vietnamese Ambassador to Italy has said, reports Vietnam Plus.

At a working session between Vietnamese fashion designers, led by Minh Hanh, and Stepano Dominella, president of Italian fashion house Gattinoni, in Rome, Ambassador Long said Vietnam is a major clothing exporter, but the creativity of its products is relatively low.

Hence, in order to exchange information and experience, the Vietnamese Embassy in Rome has organized fashion shows in some Italian cities and has also arranged meetings between designers of the two countries, the report states.

Mr. Dominella said Italy is well-known for its luxury apparel industry, but its young designers are eager to learn from Vietnam’s experience, especially in making handicrafts, and thus there is much potential for collaboration between the two countries.

He hoped that Vietnamese garments will find consumers in Italy and the Italian fashion companies like Gattinoni would be able to enter new markets in Asia, including Vietnam.

It was decided that Vietnamese designers would be working with the Association of Textile, Garments and Fashion of Rome to organize a Vietnamese fashion show in the Italian capital in September and later a Rome fashion show in Vietnam in December.

Last year, Vietnamese fashion designers Minh Hanh and Hoang Hai held fashion shows in Italian cities of Milan, Florence and Turin, showcasing traditional Vietnamese dresses and evening gowns, to generate interest in Vietnamese fashion among European consumers.
