The Planning Commission of Pakistan has so far released INR 100 billion under its Public Sector Development Program against the total allocation of PKR 233 billion for FY2012-13.
According to the latest data of the Planning Commission,a total of PKR 55.4 billion has been released for 345 infrastructure development projects,while PKR 41.5 billion for 687 social sector projects.Similarly,PKR 1.1 billion has been released for 68 other projects and PKR 2 billion for the Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority.
According to the data,these releases have been made against PKR 233 billion PSDP allocations for current fiscal year for the development of different sectors in the country.The total size of the PSDP for FY2012-13 is PKR 360 billion,including PKR 100 billion in foreign aid,which is managed by the Economic Affairs Division and PKR 27 billion special program,release of which is made by the Cabinet Division or Finance Division.
According to details,the total cost of 345 infrastructure projects has been estimated at PKR 2346.7 billion,out of which PKR 210.9 billion has been earmarked in the 2012-13 budget that includes PKR 85.6 billion as foreign aid.Likewise,the total cost of social sector projects is PKR 549.7 billion,of which PKR 136.2 billion has been allocated in the current PSDP with foreign aid of PKR 8.4 billion.
However,the cost of other projects has been estimated at PKR 40.6 billion,of which PKR 3 billion has been earmarked in the PSDP 2012-13,while PKR 10 billion has been earmarked for ERRA in the current development program.The Planning Commission has been following a proper mechanism for the release of funds and accordingly,funds are released as per given mechanism.
